Materials Chemistry Lab
for
Energy, Environment & Catalysis
Background:
Dr. Subrata Kundu was born in Arambagh-Hooghly, West Bengal, India, in 1978. He has received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in chemistry from Calcutta University, in 1998 and 2000, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, India, in early 2005. After that Dr. Kundu went for his postdoctoral work to the United States where he worked in two different laboratories in the University of Nebraska, Lincoln and Texas A&M University, USA from June 2005 to December 2010. During post doc period, he worked on nanomaterials mostly on nanowires for device related applications. His in-depth idea of nanowires helps him in making building blocks in nanoelectronics. In 2008, Kundu published a paper on DNA-CdS nanowires in ‘Advanced Materials’ which was highlighted in several news channels all over the world including discovery news channel. Currently, Dr. Kundu is working as a Senior Scientist in CSIR-CECRI, Karaikudi and he is interested working with size and shape selective nanomaterials for Catalysis, analytical and environmental chemistry, Surface Enhance Raman Scattering (SERS), nano-device, supercapacitor, electrocatalytic water splitting and DSSC applications.
